Orange wine from the South-West! Hits like a street fair uppercut.

Feeling like a smooth gangster? This skin-contact white wine – aka white wine made like a red, aka orange wine – burns bright like Sam “Ace” Rothstein’s suits in Casino. Its aromatics are rich and layered: orange peel, nutmeg, dried flowers… On the palate, it’s electric: lively tension, mineral backbone and real grip. Energetic, structured, and unapologetic, this is a bold tribute to how whites were made in Antiquity.

Climate

A cold, rainy year, highly atypical after several warm vintages. Historic spring frost, rain, and disease pressure (mildew, powdery mildew). A challenging vintage for growers.

Very low, especially in Burgundy and Champagne.

Orange color with copper highlights

Orange zest, sweet spices

Direct and vibrant, with a tonic and looooooong finish


Terroir

West-facing parcels planted on clay soils with Burdigalian limestone bedrock (ancient marine fossils).

Winemaking

Biodynamic farming. Hand-harvested with grapes sorted in the vineyard. The grapes are kept whole and macerate for 15 days before being gently pressed. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Zero additives throughout the entire winemaking process. The wine is born without clarification or filtration, relying entirely on natural settling during 18 months of ageing in stainless steel tanks, French oak barrels, and terracotta amphora. Unfiltered. No added sulfites. Pure juice.

Winemaker

This orange wine was crafted by Christophe Kaczmarek and Michel Maestrojuan, biodynamic winegrower from Domaine Entras, in Gascony.

As always at Caaaaaaat, the wines are vinified, blended, bottled, and packed at the estate. From vineyard to cellar, everything is done with intention and respect: regenerating soils, fostering biodiversity, and honoring the humans who make it all happen.
